Custom Coins Case Study

Every year towns and cities across America struggle and wonder how they are going to afford and continue to fund the increased cost of their budgets. This GREAT idea for raising funds came from a small town in Pennsylvania and has been used by hundreds of towns since.

The Dilemma

bag of moneyIt seemed that the merchants in this small town were having a rough time raising the necessary money to purchase some badly needed holiday decorations for the towns Main Street. Although the merchants were in favor of decorating the towns Main Street to entice shoppers and patrons to visit their business, they were not in favor of the higher "assessments" they were being handed down to help pay for this program.

The Solution

Custom coin with Scalloped EdgesThe idea they came up with was to create a Limited Edition Collectors Coin featuring a historic building on one side and a brief history of the building on the back. They decided to mint only a specific quantity of the coin and when they were sold out, that was all they make, thus making them a true Collector's Coin.

The Result

The coins became so popular that they raised enough money to expand the decorations program to the side streets as well. The merchants were very delighted that they were no longer being "assessed" each year just to maintain what they already had. Now, the town has a waiting list plus folks standing in line, every year, eagerly waiting to purchase their limited edition collectible and hand them the funds they need. EVERYONE WINS! The sponsor gets lots of publicity, the town history is promoted and preserved, the merchants no longer have to support that budget item, and those folks purchasing the item get a limited edition, heirloom quality collectible.
