Have you ever wondered what the 5% - 10% Overrun / Underrun policy we state on every order is all about? Well, we are happy to help you understand this a little better.
To keep the costs down on custom imprinted merchandise, most of our manufacturers will run more than what is ordered to ensure the quantity ordered is shipped. It is far cheaper to print 105 of an item, and throw away the defectives, than to run 100 and only have 98 turn out well enough to ship. In our experiences, our clients are happier that more are received than less. It can be embarrassing if a company doesn't have enough handouts/gifts to give to everyone on their list. So....having said that, let's break down 2 scenario's:
Example 1: Company A orders 100 imprinted golf shoe bags that are screen printed with their logo. With screen printing (and other decorating methods), one or more of the bags might not receive a great quality imprint during the printing process. If the bag(s) have a defective imprint and does not meet the quality standards of that manufacturer, it will be thrown away. Knowing this can happen to any order, the manufacturer wants to make sure that Company A receives at least 100 of these bags, so they will pull 5 extra bags to print for this order (5% overrun).
In the end, 102 bags were deemed of acceptable quality and 102 are shipped to Company A. The additional 2 bags are billed for as per our agreement.
Example 2: Company B orders 100 printed paper fans. Our manufacturer pulls 105 fans to fulfill the order. During the print run, the ink smears on 7 of the fans and those fans are thrown away. 98 are packaged and shipped to Company B. Since only 98 are delivered, we will issue a credit for 2 fans that can be used on a reorder or any other order that is placed with us. No sense in paying for something you didn't receive.
Now that you have a better understanding of what a 5%-10% overrun or underrun means, this can actually save you money! How? Let us show you:
Example: Company C wants 90 custom printed ink pens at cost of $3.50 each. However, the minimum order for this particular ink pen is 100 and ordering less would incur a $50 Less Than Minimum fee. We would suggest ordering 100 and state that you are waiving the overruns and will accept less than what is ordered. Ordering the 10 extra would only add $35.00 to the order instead of adding $50 for ordering less than 100. Plus, if less than 100 are delivered, then we will issue you a credit.
We hope this clears up any confusion on our overrun / underrun policy. If you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us at 1-800-240-8639, Monday - Friday from 8:30am to 5pm Eastern Time.
